Cut Flower Gardening Series 2.0- Healthy Soil 101

Saturday, March 19th

10:00am-12:00pm

The secret to any good garden is the soil! The health of the soil is crucial to guarantee success with any of your gardening endeavors. In this workshop, we will discuss several methods of preparing your soil, basics of soil health including soil properties and principles, and the indicators of good soil health. This workshop will get you familiar with bed prep, caring for your garden space, and setting up your garden for low maintenance success.

During the workshop we will be covering:

  • Basics of soil
  • Tilling, low till, and no till methods
  • Fostering healthy microbial growth
  • Brief discussion on cover crops

For this workshop, we have partnered with the USU Soil Analytics lab. Guests can participate without having their soil tested but the soil test is highly recommended. Click here for full instructions on how to collect your soil sample and what to bring for the workshop. Soil samples will need to be submitted to Freckle Farm before or at the time of the workshop. Shipping will not be available.
