Fall at the Farm: Pie Throwdown

FRECKLE FARM'S FIRST PIE-BAKING CONTEST

When you think of fall, pie inevitably comes to mind!  Freckle Farm is excited to announce its first annual pie baking competition - a true Pie Throwdown.  Whether you are a seasoned baker or simply enjoy a fun culinary challenge, this is your opportunity to showcase your skills and share your favorite pie recipes.  

In an exciting collaboration, Love to Cook will provide three talented chefs to judge the Pie Throwdown.   In addition to the main competition, there will be two other categories:  Employee Favorite and People's Choice Award, where we invite our customers to try your pie and submit their votes.  In the end, one lucky contestant will earn the prestigious title of 'Best Pie in Cache Valley!'

All pies that participate in the Pie Throwdown will also be submitted to Freckle Farm's Harvest Festival Silent Auction on Saturday, September 28th, 12 pm - 4 pm.  All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the Cache Valley Food Bank.  Be sure to invite your friends and family to come bid on the winning pie!

Freckle Farm Pie Throwdown Rules and Regulations:
1.  Two pies must be made exactly the same (flavor/design).
2.  Both pies must be able to remain unrefrigerated (no cream/dairy/raw or uncooked eggs).
3.  Pie must be presented in a disposable tin.
4.  Only amateur baking entrants.  No professional bakers.
5.  Pies must be made entirely from scratch.  Bring your recipe to submit to the judge.
6.  Pictures can be taken and images shared on social media for both Freckle Farm and Love to Cook.
7.  There will be a random drawing for the order in which pies are judged.
8.  Judging will be based on the following 100-point system:  20 points for presentation and definition/20 points for creativity and originality/50 points for flavor and taste (with 25 points for crust and 25 points for filling/10 points for judges' discretion and tie-breaking.
9.  By registering for this competition, you are agreeing to the rules and to the final decision of the judges.
