Cut Flower Gardening Series 2.0- Maintenance

Individuals with the greenest thumbs are typically those with the richest soils. Every good gardener knows if you take care of your soil, your garden will take care of you. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of mulching and compost, how to time succession planting to extend your harvest, the importance of weed management, and continual practices to foster the health of your soil. This workshop will get you familiar with bed prep, how to properly maintain garden beds, our favorite tools that make maintenance easier, and setting up your garden for low-maintenance success.
During the workshop we will be covering:
- Timing of planting
- Weed maintenance, pros and cons of weed barrier
- Soil maintenance
- Selection of tools
- Demos of staking, trellising, support systems with pros and cons of each
The kit will include a Barebones Hori Hori knife. This is one of our tried and true favorite gardening tools. It's rounded top and serrated sides make it ideal for scooping, digging, and pulling weeds.

This workshop can be attended in person or virtually. Virtual attendees will connect through Zoom; internet access via computer or phone will be required. After registration, we will be emailing attendees instructions on how to download Zoom for free and join the live class.
